Is this thing on?... *tap *tap *tap

Hi, there. :)

This is softEthos, where we will attempt to show the chaotic and accidental ways software has (mis)shaped the world... and where we are going next.

Three goals:

  1. To entertain and enlighten the tech outsider.
  2. To show some pitfalls and best practices to the designers and programmers out there.
  3. And to get society thinking ahead (this stuff is coming, whether we plan on it or not)... let's talk about it ahead of time, for a change.

Planned future articles inclide:

  • Death and Defaults: How default settings dramatically changed organ donation rates.
  • How Google spawned the trolls it hates.
  • Success, failure, and costs of 5 star rating systems.
  • Social media divides us… when all they really wanted was to exploit and addict us.
  • Why a browser few have heard of, is almost certainly more accurate than the mighty Google.
  • What in the world is Meta and why are people driving up the stock?
  • NFTs are a joke... right?
  • The REAL pitfall of bitcoin. *hint: It’s the humans. It’s always the humans.
  • Self driving cars will save more lives than any modern medical practice – until…

Enjoy :)
